METAL FABRICATION SERVICES
What is Metal Fabrication?
Metal fabrication is the process of turning raw metal into finished products by using operations such as cutting (removing material), forming (bending or shaping metal), and welding (joining metal parts together using heat or pressure).
Metal Fabrication Process
Fabricators work from CAD (Computer-Aided Design) drawings, which are digital engineering plans that show dimensions, materials, and manufacturing requirements. After fabrication, the product undergoes finishing processes such as grinding, machining, painting, or galvanizing to improve its appearance, accuracy, strength, and resistance to corrosion.
Fabrication Engineering
Fabrication engineering is the branch of engineering that plans and manages the process of turning raw steel and metal into structures, equipment, and components. It combines design, manufacturing, welding, quality control, and project management to ensure that fabricated products are safe, accurate, and fit for their intended purpose.
ISO 9001 Quality Management System
ISO 9001 explains why a Quality Management System (QMS) (a structured way of managing quality) helps a fabrication engineering company consistently manufacture steel structures, pressure vessels, skids, and welded products that meet customer and legal requirements.
ASME, API, and BS EN 13445 Certified and Compliant
Compliance of a pressure vessel with ASME, API, or BS EN 13445 means the vessel has been designed, manufactured, inspected, tested, and documented according to internationally recognized standards, reducing the customer’s risk and increasing confidence in safety, quality, reliability, and legal compliance.
FAQ
Sheet metal cutting is removing and shaping sheets or plates in a desired manner. Simple tools such as guillotines, cutting torches or saws are used for small or easy cuts whereas big and complex cuts require, laser, plasma or waterjet CNC machines
Welding is simply one specific step within fabrication used to permanently fuse metal pieces together. Metal fabrication is the broader manufacturing process of shaping, cutting, and assembling raw metal into finished products.
Custom welding and fabrication is the process of joining and assembling non-standard, unique or newly built equipment for a specific industrial application.
The rule of thumb for costing fabricated steel projects is a third or 33% raw material, 33% engineering and fabrication labour, and 33% overheads, which include transport, jigs, fixtures and cranes. Gross profit margins are 20-30% of the costs.
- Quality and Testing: Make sure factory approved testing (FAT) is representative of the equipment in the environment it is operated in. 2. Experience: Ask for similar past work completed with references you can call. 3. Design Capability: This is important for safety and financial loss prevention, that alterations and operations are as communicated.
